Current Situation

Naura is located in the Pacific Ocean. Naura is the world's smallest island nation. Nauru's economy depended largely on phosphate deposits which are almost depleted. However, the government placed revenue from the mining of phosphates in a trust, but it was badly mismanaged and is worth about 140 million AUS$ today, down from 1.3 billion AUS$. Nauru has no other sustainable economic activity to replace mining, tourism is small and hard to sustain with only 2 airplanes and 2 hotels servicing Nauru. For now Nauru is completely dependent on foreign aid in order to maintain basic government services, which it has trouble doing.
