Colombia has been plagued by political violence since the 1960s, but in recent years the violence has been decreasing. Colombia has a strong economy the 4th largest in South America, the economy finds its strength in abundant natural resources and a highly literate population. An election is currently in process with a second round run-off coming up soon, Juan Manuel Santos looks set to win and he will most likely continue on the same path as Alvaro Uribe in terms of policies.
