Biography:
Jigme Thinley was born in Bumthang, Bhutan, in 1952. He is the first democratically elected Prime Minister of Bhutan. His career as a civil servant began in 1974, this career saw him hold several high profile posts and being named prime minister on two occasions.
Jigme Thinley was elected as the Prime Minister of Bhutan in 2008, in the first ever democratic election in the country.
