Current Situation

 

Azerbaijan is located in the south Caucasus, it is bordered by Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Iran and Turkey. Azerbaijan is part of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), the United Nations and the NATO Partnership for peace (PIP). Azerbaijan is rich in natural resources, and has a very high growth rate. Azerbaijan was able to maintain its high growth rate through 2009, despite the world recession.
